A commendation for my colleague.

Upon his retirement, Cornell College bestowed upon Professor Tony deLaubenfels the rank of Professor Emeritus. The college’s dean asked me, the chairman of the department in which Tony teaches, to write a letter of commendation to accompany the award. In my letter, I described some of Tony’s important contributions to our college and thanked him for his service to our college. In any other year, I would have read the letter at gathering of the faculty. Because of an epidemic, this year’s ceremony took the form of a video conference. I recorded my speech. The college included this recording in the afternoon’s program.
