Ethical Perspectives on the News

I have enjoyed contributing to “Ethical Perspectives on the News” in the roles of moderator and panelist, and as a member of the programming committee.

“Ethical Perspectives on the News” is a 30 minute public affairs program. The Inter-Religious Council of Linn County (Iowa) produces “Ethical Perspectives on the New.”. KCRG-TV (Channel 9/ABC in Cedar Rapids, Iowa) broadcasts the programs on Sunday mornings.

I thank my producers, especially Cedric Lofdahl, Terry Boyden, and Craig Nilsen, for the opportunities that they have given me. I also thank Professor David Weddle. Professor Weddle taught at Cornell College for many years, helped launch “Ethical Perspectives on the News”, introduced me to the program, and encouraged me to get involved.

We introduce our audience to interesting and engaged members of our community on “Ethical Perspectives on the News”. We have recruited clergy, professors (including some of my colleagues at Cornell College), students, attorneys, physicians, journalists, holders and seekers of public office, leaders of community organizations, engineers, and entrepreneurs to join us in conversation. Getting to know these people has been a great reward for me.

I have many times brought students with me to the television station’s studio, to see how we make a program and to meet my guests. My guests have shown wonderful courtesy and generosity to my students.

Here are the titles and dates of broadcasts of episodes of the program, together with links to video recordings of the programs on YouTube. These are episodes to which I contributed as the moderator or a member of the panel.
